Low Budgeting Seattle’s Waterfront

Sunrise must be trying to lift the overcast
past occasional sleep on cement
with cardboard bedding.
Sleepy eyed unzipping tent
at 7 a.m. pack up and vacate.
That ‘vacate-tion’ is for after

What’s mattress? What’s coffee?

Today we fly signs
smile at no smiles
try eye contact with ferry commuters,
tourists, cabbies hoping.
street people ‘hoping
a month’s worth of hope
for the price of a lottery ticket
and cabbies hoping for an airport fare,
extra luggage, golf bag, skis, extra
passengers, instrument case….

Get a grip.
another day low-budgeting
Seattle’s waterfront from the bottom
of the no finance litter economy.

Spectating
the faces of hurry, the faces of worry,
the faces of cultural despair and the faces of
the voluntary slavery of unhappiness.
To all these faces we fly our signs
“Jokes for sale” “Fishing for Kindness”

We fly our signs in “the World on Time”
“When it Fits, you feel it”
“Rethink Possible”
”That’s What We Do”
“I’m lovin’ it.”
