Looking at his drawings, pastels,
watercolors and cut paper,
I toss Dean:

“SUCCESS”

“Anymore
success doesn’t mean money
to me.
Maybe contentment, acceptance,
simplifying life
without analyzing all the time.

“I require my life to have quiet.

“I hate how much time it takes
for just my physical maintenance:

teeth
shower
shampoo
trim hair
trim nails
shine shoes
clothes.

Everything takes time
And at the end of the day
how much time is left for pleasure?

“Insignificant things
can sometimes have wonderful value.

“I guess “success” is being able to make
spontaneous, anonymous gifts

…and learning to laugh at life.”

“In today’s world of carbon copies,
unique is…well, unique.”
